The image was sent to Rudie Kuiter for comment. He replied "It certainly looks like the eastern Australia form of E. rivulatus. There are a number of geographical variations. It is best distinguished from E. fasciatus by the plain dorsal spine tips which are black and white in E. fasciatus and it has a reddish blotch basally on the pectoral fin that is usually more distinct in the Indian Ocean forms of E. rivulatus."
