Batak Textile E81147

This hand-woven and hand-spun cotton bulang - headscarf in rusty and creamy colours is from Simelungun (Batak) people of Sumatera Utara (North Sumatra) Province, Indonesia. It uses warp extension to create end panels – warp extension technique could imply circularity associated with the symbolism of male-female. Size: 188cm x 38cm.
