Baba tagwa or baba kumbu mask from Papua New Guinea

This helmet mask is worn by participants in male initiation ceremonies and is part of a full-body costume that includes a fibre or leaf skirt. The ceremony is performed on ceremonial grounds near the haus tambaran, the central male cult house.
