Image: Australopithecus africanus skull side view
Cast of skull Sts 71. This 2.5 million-year-old partial skull was discovered in1947 by Robert Broom and John Robinson in Sterkfontein, South Africa. It was initially thought that his skull was a female because of the minimal facial projection, but the robust features of this skull and large molars indicate it was more likely an adult male.
