This new species of leaf beetle, Atysa kaantju, was described recently by entomologists Dr Chris Reid and Max Beatson.

Additional information
This small beetle (approximately 6 to 7 mm in length) is known only from early 20th century specimens labelled 'Coen District', the area in which it was collected. Its biology is unknown.
