Notes

Alexander Walker Scott was born on November 10, 1800, in Bombay, India to Dr Helenus Scott and Augusta Maria, née Frederick. He was part of a large and influential family that migrated to Australia from England in the 1820s. A qualified lawyer with an MA from Cambridge, he became known in the colony as a grazier, entomologist and entrepreneur. He died in Sydney in 1883.
