Australian Wildlife Display

When: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 3–19 April

Join Anthony Stimpson and learn all about native reptiles, birds and mammals in a fun and interactive display of live animals.

Wild Animal Craft

Choose from three great designs and make your own 3D wild animal to take home.

Meet Australian Museum scientists

Meet Australian Museum Research Institute staff and find out all about their latest work!

Community groups

Come and meet some fantastic community groups and find out how you can be involved in the conservation effort! Groups such as Sydney Wildlife Rescue and the Museum’s own community-run projects such as Stream Watch will be showing off their important work. You might even get to meet some very special live animals!

Photography Workshop for Children

When: Tuesday 7 and 14 April
Time: 10.30am to 12pm
Ages: 8–12 years
Cost: $35 ($30 Members) per child including admission to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition

Want to be a wildlife photographer or simply learn some great new skills with the camera? Join us for an introduction to photography using your point and shoot device. Enjoy a tour of our fantastic Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, photograph real museum specimens and create an image to take home!

Bring your own digital camera, phone or tablet.

Photography Workshop for Teenagers

When: Tuesday 7 or 14 April
Time: 1pm–3pm
Ages: 13–16 years
Cost: $45 ($40 Members) per child including admission to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition

During this two-hour workshop you will advance your photography skills with some great technical advice. Experience a tour through the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition with a professional photographer and have access to real museum specimens.

Bring your own digital/SLR camera.

Scientist for a Day: What’s in your backyard?

When: Wednesday 8 or Thursday 9 April
Time: 9am–3pm

Think you know everything there is to know about dirt? Think again! Get down and dirty with us as we explore the secrets of your backyard and unearth the mysteries beneath us. Can you find all the mini beasts lurking close by? Participate in soil experiments and learn backyard science activities as we investigate the dirty details of the soil around us in the International Year of Soil.
