Wild Planet Activity Room

To celebrate the opening of our much-anticipated exhibition Wild Planet, join us for a wild time in our fun activity room. Make a hanging animal mobile to take home, enjoy dressing up and take part in our group art activities.

Torchlight Tour

Ever wondered what happens in the Museum at night? Join us after ‘lights out’ and explore it by torchlight with our experienced guides. You'll be among the first people to check out Wild Planet after dark!

Mini Explorers: Bones, Bones, Bones

Shake, rattle and wiggle your bones – come and investigate skeletons of all sorts!
• Learn about human skeletons
• Match animals with their bones
• Draw real animal skeletons
• Enjoy stories, songs , take home craft and lots of free play

Tiny Tots: Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Join us for a simple introduction to the human body and enjoy learning with singing, sensory activities and more, with lots of opportunities for parents and carers to join in too!
• Simple songs and rhymes about the different parts of the body
• Hand/finger painting
• Sensory bins for exploring and developing fine motor skills

Inspired by the 400 creatures from around the world on display in the new exhibition Wild Planet comes a workshop about Earth's mammals. Discover their quirks and adaptations, and meet less-familiar mammals such as the Aye-aye, Quokka and Tapir. This fun-filled workshop includes a craft activity and a scavenger hunt through the gallery.
When: Tuesdays 22, 29 September
Time: 10.30am – 12pm
Ages: 6 – 8 years
Cost: Child $25 (Member child $20)

Scientist For a Day: Lose Your Senses

Is your sense of smell better than a T. rex’s? Find out how our senses stack up against those of other animals as we delve into the brain to discover how we smell hear, see, taste and feel. Explore and experiment with the senses, learn how animals navigate their environment and investigate the inner workings of the brain!

Scientist for a day: Let’s get humerus!

Join us as we unlock the secrets of our bodies and discover just how important bones and muscles are. How do our skeletons compare to those of other animals? Use real specimens to discover the differences, test how bones help us move, and find out from our Museum experts all about different types of skeletons.
