A series of photographic portraits celebrating the achievements of Indigenous elders who live in urban Sydney.

The exhibition acknowledges:

  • The significant contribution elders have made to the Aboriginal community and social rights today
  • The continuation of traditional cultural hierarchies in modern, urban Aboriginal communities

The photographs were taken by the renowned Aboriginal photographer Mervyn Bishop. The exhibition also recognises the important role he has played in documenting the history of Aboriginal Australian experiences.
