This is a long-term project which has been designed to target indicator species and allow for survey results to be compared with previous year’s data as an assessment of river health. Sampling techniques include benthic invertebrate sampling, crab surveys, hard surface photo monitoring and macrophyte surveys. The reporting of results also includes recommendations to Council and other local working groups in ways to improve the overall health of the river.
AMC along with Marrickville Council made adjustments to the project to enable scientific tests to be conducted on the survey results, including multivariate and univariate analyses to detect temporal changes over this time.
