We're very excited that the Museum’s 5th mobile application has been released.

It’s been a long road and the app started out as a vague list of species that I needed to get descriptions, biological information and images for. Over time it morphed into something much, much bigger.

I’d worked on other apps before, but the information contained in this app makes it stand out in a crowd. The Museum’s expert collections and research staff created our species profiles, resulting in highly detailed information sheets and a wide range of species was covered.

We also collaborated with other museums from around Australia to provide users with an extensive species list. Our plan is to add additional species over time so more wildlife enthusiasts can discover Australian animals.

The Field Guide to NSW Fauna is a valuable and engaging app for anyone with an interest in wildlife. It can be used in backyards, bush and coastal environments and lets you discover and explore more about the animals living in those areas.

The app is a comprehensive guide to NSW wildlife with more than 1000 species including birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, spiders, crustaceans and insects. The app features detailed descriptions, maps of recorded observations, endangered species listings, and stunning images of every species.

The app's development was made possible by the Inspiring Australia Unlocking Australia’s Potential grant program.
