The Museum Outreach team have been very busy this year participating in events across NSW

We started slowly this year because our depot moved from Alexandria to the main Australian Museum site. This process was slow but worth the wait. Since the move we have been refining our processes to ensure everything was running smoothly.

During 2013 we have been creating stronger links the education resources from Museum in a Box and our exhibition loan programs. We have had several boxes travelling around the NSW including the Insect box at Western Plains Cultural Centre linking with our exhibition Beauty from Nature: art of the Scott Sisters and the Reptile box at Albury Art Gallery & Library Museum linking with SuperCroc. We were even able to do a live interactive video conference between Western Plains Cultural Centre and the Australian Museum to allow community members to learn more about the Beauty from Nature: art of the Scott Sisters exhibition from Australian Museum experts.

Museum in a Box and Museum2you were used in the Science Expo of the Australian Museum Science Festival. There were seven day of science reaching families and students alike. During this time we also had Museum in a Boxes at Centennial Parks Science in the Swamp.

We were invited to attend Enviro 2013 at Wollongong Botanical Gardens to run Streamwatch workshops. We have five school participate in our workshop that covered ph experiments, aquatic invertebrate investigation and catchment management.

We also had great student helpers from the Illawarra Grammar School working with us on all the activities. The feedback from the event has been extremely positive with around 1000 students descend on the gardens to experience workshops from 25 organisations. The Wollongong Botanic Garden was a great venue and we look forward to participating next year.

Keep an eye out for the Museum Outreach team in Dubbo this September, Sydney Olympic Park in October and Bathurst in November. If we're not coming to an area near you try Museum in a Box for schools, Museum2you for communities or video conferencing.
