Hi, in the photo competition, do the invertebrates have to be photograped in their natural enviroment or can they be shot in a studio? thanks Diane

We found this beautiful beetle (approx 1.5cm) in our garden recently. We live near Meningie SA on a small property surrounded farming country and bushland. I'd appreciate any help offered in identifying this amazing little creature.

Hi Josie - please send your enquiry for identification to our Search & Discover information and resource centre using our Scientific Enquiry contact form. I am sure they will be able to identify the scorpion for you. You can attach a small jpeg of your scorpion to your query.

I found this small scorpion in my house and have seen about 3 others of this type in the past. What type of scorpion is it? I have a baby and toddler. Is this scorpion at all dangerous? It's about 1.5 cm in length. Thanks.

Hi Snappa - could you please repost your comment and the unidentified photo on a page that might be more relevant? e.g. if you think the image is of an insect, post your comment on the insect page that you think might be most like your unidentified picture and attach the image as a comment attachment (up to 500kb file size). Thankyou.

FOUND THIS CREATURE ALIVE TODAY AND WAS VERY SHOCKED THAT NO ONE ON SITE HAD EVER SEEN SUCH A CREATURE/INSECT. FOUND IN MARSDEN PARK SYDNEY, AND THE PROPERTY THIS IS ON HAS JUST BEEN SOLD AS IN ZONED INDUSTRIAL, SO IF THIS IS RARE AS, SOON TO BE EXTINCT! UNLESS IT IS THAT ABUNDANT BUT LIKE INTELLIGENT PEOPLE RARE AS ROCKING HORSE POO!@!!!!!

Hi @montroseworms - did you visit our Museum or the Melbourne Museum (Museum Victoria) - you mention 'vic museum'? Not sure which area you were visiting? Please send us a Feedback form so that we can address any concerns you may have had.

visited the vic mueseum yesterday guess what not a earthworm to be found . the old mueseum had displays i was very dissapointed travelled a long way paid parking and entry x 3 . like how hard is it to add some blown up photos of a hundered natives and inports and breeding and habitat data in the insect section . in ten years time our kids will say to us what is a worm?

We live in Rochedale brisbane near bush. Since the last big rain we have been unindated with these insects which appear to be dropping off huge gum trees. Every night a new lot arrive, have a hard brown shell on their back which they are permanently carrying. They emerge from this and look like a maggot with legs. Dislike water and are around the doorways by the dozens and are still moving during the day everywhere, even in the pool drowning. Aren't hatching into anything. Ucky Ucky Ucky critters.
