Image Gallery: Whitings
The family Sillaginidae, contains about 30 species collectively known as sillagos or whitings. They occur throughout the Indo-west Pacific region. About 13 species are known from Australia. These fishes occur in shallow coastal waters and estuaries. The weed whitings are labrid fishes (subfamily Odacinae) and are not related to the true whitings.
