Volunteering at Lizard Island Research Station

Volunteers can assist at the Lizard Island Research Station in one of two ways: as a Station Volunteer or as a Research Volunteer.

  1. You can join the Station Volunteer Program and assist with maintenance. This program is organised by the Research Station. The Station does not offer any research internships. More Info About the Station Volunteer Program
  2. Highly qualified divers (divemasters or instructors) can register as Research Volunteers at Lizard Island Research Station. The Research Station maintains the register but any arrangements are made directly between researchers and Research Volunteers. More Info About Becoming a Research Volunteer.

Hi! I am also a student in the SIT ecology program in Cairns. I am not sure if this is the right place to contact you but I was also wondering if it would be possible to do my independent study at Lizard. I am interested in zooplankton ecology specifically, so I was curious whether there are any people at Lizard studying zooplankton who I could possibly work for. Hi, I am a student participating in an SIT program based in Cairns. I need to do an independent study project in the month of november, and i was wondering if you had any available space in your accommodations and if you had any research projects dealing with the crown of thorn star fish. I am really interested in doing a project based in the water, so even if you have no researchers exploring that topic, i wouldn't mind doing other things. please let me know what your thoughts are and what other steps i should take. thank you, Moana
