The family Lutjanidae contains the fusiliers, hussars and tropical snappers. They are also commonly called coral snappers. The family comprises over 120 species worldwide, with about 60 species known from Australia. It is worth commenting that the snappers should not be confused with the Snapper, Pagrus auratus, which is classified in the family Sparidae.
