Reptiles in the Australian Museum Collections

Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians, which include snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, tortoises, frogs, salamanders and caecilians.

Extinct Australian reptiles

Australia has some of the largest fossil snakes and lizard known. Other reptile groups well represented in the fossil record include crocodiles, turtles and flying reptiles.
