OZCAM
OZCAM is the Online Zoological Collections of Australian Museums. The aim of OZCAM is to provide online access to a database of records aggregated from faunal collections databases in Australian museums.
OZCAM is an initiative of the Council of Heads of Australian Faunal Collections (CHAFC), which is the peak body representing Australia’s publicly accessible zoological and palaeontological collections, primarily within the jurisdiction of government at all levels (regional, state, territory and commonwealth).
The OZCAM2 data access, analysis and visualisation tool was developed by the Australian Museum in partnership with Rio Tinto as part of the BioMaps project. OZCAM2 is BioMaps with an OZCAM design. It is based on a distributed data structure. This means OZCAM2 can use the data but the custodial institutions remain responsible for its creation, management and maintenance.
