Animal Species:Hill's Sheathtail Bat
Hill's Sheathtail Bats were only recognised as a separate species in 1980. Before that they were confused with Common Sheathtail Bats.
Hill's Sheathtail Bats roost in caves and old mines. They often share their roosts with Common Sheathtail Bats.
Feeding and Diet
Hill's Sheathtail Bats feed on insects, but their diet is poorly known.
Female Hill's Sheathtail Bats have one baby during summer through to autumn.
Hill's Sheathtail Bats are vulnerable to disturbance from human visitors to cave roosts, destruction of caves by mining, and loss of feeding habitat by clearing and land degradation from agriculture.
