Exporting Specimens From Australia

This information is provided as a service to Lizard Island Research Station visitors. It is the Station's interpretation of permitting requirements as they apply to work at Lizard Island.

Researchers who wish to export biological specimens from Australia will need to obtain an export permit.

You will need to have all relevant collecting permits in hand before applying for an export permit because they must be submitted with the application.

For definitive information about export permits, contact the authority that issues them:

Note that you may also require an import permit from your home country.
