1988: Courtyard Wing

In 1983 planning began for a new wing, designed by the Public Works Department.

The new addition was built in the horseshoe-shaped bay of the old Museum courtyard, with the old wings wrapping around the new structure. All the major wings are linked to the new wing by a light filled atrium space.
