A Week of Fish: 2013 Fish-mas Special

By: Mark McGrouther, Category: Science, Date: 20 Dec 2013

Happy fishy festive season everyone! In addition to your normal weekly dose of fishes we present two movies from the fieldtrip archive.

'Old' movies:

These old, grainy movies were filmed in 1998 on a fish fieldtrip to the Solomon Islands.  They show wrasse expert and (at the time) Field Museum employee Dr Mark Westneat as he tells us about:

New movies:

Bicolor Blenny, Ecsenius bicolor
Climbing Galaxias, Galaxias brevipinnis
Green Moray, Gymnothorax prasinus
Halfmoon Triggerfish, Rhinecanthus lunula
Striped Catfish, Plotosus lineatus

New images:

Halfmoon Triggerfish, Rhinecanthus lunula
Rotund Blenny, Omobranchus rotundiceps
Sad Seahorse, Hippocampus tristis

Thank you!!

Best wishes to all you fish-followers and a very big thank you to everyone who has contributed expertise, images and videos to the site throughout the year.  I greatly appreciate your help.  Enjoy the Sciencemas video below - just ignore the guy in the park at the start. :) Sincerely, Mark.
