The Museum's multi-talented Ukulele Group perform their ode to the art of scientific illustration...
If you'd like to see more about scientific illustration, visit our marvellous exhibition and website Beauty From Nature: art of the Scott Sisters.
And hot off the press from Martyn are the lyrics (in case you missed them...)
An Ode to the Scott Sisters (to the tune of Rosin the Bow)
The Scott sisters painted our insects
With a flare that is not seen today
All the food plants and colours and larvae
It’s a wonder they can’t fly away
Chorus
Come all you science illustrators
Your art’s still important today
remember the Scott sisters paintings
That gave them both status and pay
In the mid 1800’s they painted
t’was deemed to be man’s work those days
remarkable were their achievements
So the critics all said it’s OK
Chorus
Australian Lepidoptera and their Transformations
Is a hell of a mouthful to say
But research and work that is in it
helps restore old Ash Island today
