Opening times
The Australian Museum is open 9.30am to 5.00pm every day except Christmas Day.

Payment
Payment is made at the Admission Desk, Level G. You can pay by cash, eftpos or credit card. Card payments are only for amounts of $10 and over. An ATM is available for your cash needs.
Concession cards must be shown upon admission to receive the reduced rate admission charge.
Credit card surcharges now apply
Please note that a small surcharge now applies to all payments to the Australian Museum made by credit card. The NSW Treasury has directed all NSW government departments/agencies to recover the cost of bank surcharges for credit card payments by customers, effective 1 July 2012.

To avoid incurring these charges please use an alternative method of payment (if available) such as cash, EFTPOS or cheque if a booked school group. If unsure of payment options, please ask our friendly staff.
Re-entry
Museum
If you leave the Museum re-entry is free on the day. Please retain your ticket and simply present it to our Admission staff when you return.
Temporary exhibitions
For temporary exhibitions where admission charges apply you will be issued with a ticket. You can usually leave the exhibition and re-enter on the same day provided you show your ticket and the exhibition is not extremely busy.
